If you were sitting in that buggy back in 1895, you
would be waiting for your wife, who just finished shopping in the store
to the right.
The next building to the left was the Brockett
& Strong Hardware Store, built in 1887. The hardware store is
currently owned by Jim and Diana Lawrence, who at present are restoring
the building, and it's cupola to it's original architecture as depicted
here. The cupola of this building was quite popular, and could be seen
on a few other buildings in the area. None of the other towers exist
any longer.
If you and your wife were to continue up ahead in the
buggy,
it would lead to Ashland, past Red Falls, and on to Prattsville,
if you had reason to travel that far...
